Default Godspeed Motorsport - Question

With you Subaru Impreza 335mm Kit, does the caliper sit further out than before due to the design?

Thanks

Pending an answer from Ian, or someone who's actually got the kit, judging by that picture you linked to, the inner part of the caliper sits in the same lateral position, albeit further away from the hub. The "mount" appears to consist of the bracket (which presumably mounts on the engine side of the upright) and a pair of spacers (pictured either side of the brackets) which move the inner part of the caliper back to more or less the same position.

However the outer part of the caliper will move further out because of the spacers you sandwich in the middle of it to allow it to accept the wider discs.

I have the kit fitted, and it sits a lot closer to the spokes of the OEM bug alloys than the standard unspaced caliper did. It looks well close, to be fair, but fits. What alloys have you got?

Thanks man.

I've got a classic MY00 with the OEM 6 spoke 16" wheels.

I'm not looking at getting the kit i was just curious really.

What size wheels have you got on your bug?

Thanks

Presuming you already know this but you won't get any 330mm kit under those wheels.

I'm not looking at getting the kit i was just curious really. Brembos, AP etc all seem to have a mount too so was just in regards to fitting the mounts i guess, how far out the calipers sit and stuff.
Most Brembo/AP/Alcon etc kits are significantly more expensive than Ian's. The clever part of his is that not only do you get a larger diameter disc, the sandwich in the caliper gets over the main achilles heel of the Subaru four pot setup, which is that the 24mm disc is a lot thinner than ideal. The Subaru calipers themselves are very good, if a little heavier than an alloy race one.

As with all things, you get what you pay for. The Godspeed conversion is a good way to get better braking without spending a lot more money.

I was aware a 330mm kit may be a problem but didn't know for sure. That was going to be my next question, would a bigger wheel be needed, which is a yes.

Would a 17" clear 330mm/335mm?

As well as this im wondering how much more does the caliper stick out and because of this would the ET need to be lowered to compensate? (Unless of course the wheel design is acceptable.) Which again from what we have been talking about i'm saying is a yes too.

Yeah / Nope?

Thanks

I have the Godspeed 335mm kit with 2003 17" WRX alloys and the caliper sits 2-3mm back from the inner wheel.

Must say it is a good upgrade with the Ferodo DS2500 pads

redrum, may I ask how much better, in your opinion, is the 335mm kit compared to the OEM 294mm set-up?

I need to know, as don't know whether to splash out on K-Sports or go the Godspeed route and save £££s.

Cheers.

Godspeed all day long, they are more than enough for fast road, and a damn sight better than stock. Spend your savings on other stuff for the car then.

Think the 335mm disc under 17" are going to be okay?

Thanks

Saalro,

My godspeed kit has allowed my to drag my car at elvington, isle of mann, crail, sheakspeare, santapod, york raceway. At Elvington, the first turn off to the right is not much further ahead than the end of the RHS 1/4 mile. these brakes stop me from 135mph in that distance time and time again. great piece of kit. the 335 mm kit fits under my 17" OZ Super Turismos.
