power loss due to age

power loss due to age
How much power does an engine lose due to its age?
Obviously how it is driven will play a significant part in wear and tear but as an average does anyone have any idea and does remapping reinstate the initial power loss or is power only retrieved by modding and or new internals(clearances etc)
Thanks Ian

It depends on how well its been looked after, if its been well maintained and the injectors etc have been cleaned (redex etc) then the loss isnt going to be great, but on a badly serviced/maintained car, the loss will be considerably higher.

Yes it does actually work, had a few "older" cars that have felt sluggish, one being a lowish mileage ford mondeo which had just done town driving, got it on an open road... oh not quick, 1 bottle (yes full bottle) of redex later, she flew
Ran that car for another 40k miles, had to change the rear wheel bearings (and normal servicing) but no other issues.

There should be no issues putting redex in there, now putting unleaded in there I would say was an issue but as pretty much every 95+ ron petrol has detergents in (similar to redex) id be amazed if they caused problems

When i got my 93wrx in 2005, on the rollers it made 213, after oil change, plugs, cam belt, filters and a decat moved it up to 234, if serviced and warmed up and down properly power loss is minimal and will last as long as your normal family saloon

I have used STP injector cleaner with good results. Even did a blind test on my dad who taught science and said these products don't work until I proved him wrong.
