Default TD05

Hi i have recently brought a upgrade turbo for my 05 plate wrx second hand but advertised as ''fairly new'' .When it arrived it has slight up and down play in the shaft but none backwards and forwards is this anything to worry about or is it normal on a evo111 TD05 16g ?

A little lateral play is normal, but via the internet it's obviously impossible to tell you whether the amount you can feel in your turbo is "normal" or not. If there's no longitudinal play that, if nothing else, is a good sign as it suggests the thrust bearing is still in good nick.

However, all that said, what do you mean by "Evo111 TD05"? Is this some sort of maker's name on the turbo or does it imply that you've bought one off a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III? If the latter, then the bad news is that this turbo won't fit in your Impreza.

All Subaru TD05's will need modifying for "Front Entry" as they were never intended for use on a newage car.
