Default impreza 2.0i none turbo need help plz

i have a impreza 2.0i 2002 none turbo engine code ej20 and it not idleing rite drops down to 500 rpm and back up and some times cuts out,and when im driveing it wont stay at 2000 to 4000 rpms revs drop off but when i pull foot of pedle and put it back on its gose for a bit and dose it again,but if i put my foot down revs dont drop off can any help thanks?????????

sounds like the maf to me mate. check the code on Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia then take it from there.

i carnt find the maf pal any where,it has a indution kit on it,and iv tyred to find 1 to fit my car any no 1 has them so i guest it dint have 1,how do i check the code,do i need to take it to a garage?

If you didnt have a maf the "CHECK ENGINE" light would be on and your car probably wouldnt even start. Have a look on your induction pipe for wires plugged in somewhere. The cone filter should be bolted onto your maf housing. When you find it remove it and very gently blow the sensor. Sometimes they get a bit of dirt on them and it doesnt measure the air flow properly. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you mate.

are you sure the code is ej20 because i can`t find any ref to that code all i can find is 19 + 21. like sonic-scooby said it has to be there and it will be on that pipe somewhere but if not take a pic of your engine bay and post it we will look and tell you ok mate i hope that is of some help.

Subaru 2.0 engines are ej20. it is the derivitive code for the 2 litre engine.

have just sorted a car witht that engine and the same problems as your describing and it turned out to be the throttle position sensor try unplugging it and see if that helps you

had it on a mac tool et50 dio comp and it says code p0037 rear 02 sensor,dose any1 knw where i can get a good1 for my car from ,iv lookd everywhere and carnt find1???

hi mate the rear 02 sensor is another name for a rear lambda sensor or oxygen sensor try looking for it under them names they may be some on ebay good luck pal
