You should get everything mapped in when you change anything, but it will be ok to drive untill you get it mapped. I done it after fitting a front mount, ran it for 2weeks before getting it mapped.

We have no way to tell you, in part because you haven't told us what car you currently have, and even if we did, we can't give you 100% reliable answers to questions like this without actually getting in your car and diagnosing it.

If you have a UK specification car that is in all respects totally healthy then there shouldn't be an issue. However, if you have an import, or a UK car with a degraded sensor or injector, then maybe it isn't. If you want to be certain, ask the question to a specialist with the ability to look at your car and give you a definite answer.

Waiting and putting everything on the day before getting it mapped would be the safer option.

Also worth noting that some of the cheaper aftermarket top mounts on the market are less efficient than the standard equipment. You'll need to monitor pre and post intercooler charge temps to find out.

Make sure that you fabricate/buy a suitable underbonnet tray that seals around the edge of your (presumably) larger new intercooler to the bonnet, to optimise it's charge cooling potential
