ECU reset problem

Default ECU reset problem

Hi,

My MY99 Impreza WRX import has been off the road for 3 months.
when i started it up it had rough idle and when hot would stall when pulling up to junctions, also hesitated badly under low throttle.

I checked for fault codes by connecting the black plug under the steering column and recieved two codes:
23 (Maf) and 24 (ICV)

I have replaced the maf sensor with a second hand spare my freind had which has cured the idle, stalling and hesitation issues.

But when I try to reset the ECU, I dont get the all clear code from the Engine check light, instead I get what appears to be another fault code - 32 (oxygen sensor). If I then re-check for fault codes, I just get the two original ones as above and not the new one.

Is the code during reset actually a fault code or in this senario does it mean something else?

If it is reporting an oxygen sensor fault, why does it not show when checking for stored error codes?

And lastly why does the reset not clear down the other fault codes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours then try again to see if you get the all clear

Try leaving the battery disconnected, or unplugging the ecu to reset it, then drive the car and read the codes again.

Disconnected the battery today for a couple of hours and that did the trick. There were no stored codes when i reconnected the battery.
I then drove the car a few miles and checked again, still no faults being reported

Although the second hand maf has cured the faults I am considering replacing it with a new one to be on the safe side.

i have the same prob with my my99 with the idle after it has been sittin for 6 months but no codes so im guessin its ether the maf or icv
