ecu reset

Default ecu reset

when i follow these instructions if it gives me a fault code will it still reset the ecu

I was wondering that, tried it the other day and it appears to.

My mate had the CEL coming on for the Throttle Position Sensor, did an ECU reset, which then threw the Coolant Temp Sensor CEL as well. Both of these sensors appear to have issues, but until he could source some new ones I did the reset.

When I should have normally got the 5 OK Flashes from the CEL, I actually received the error codes. After disconnecting the connector and turning the car off, the CEL did not come up any more.

So I guess it did still reset the ECU despite knowing of the problems, now it is just waiting for the sensor to throw a dodgy reading again......
