Question v3 block + v5 heads into v1 sti ?

hi recently purchased a v3 block with v5 heads on to fit into my v1 sti and just have a few questions about what is needed to be customised/upgraded for this to work?

1. want to get the most out of it when mapped but to also be safe so what sort of power am i looking at and what injectors would be sufficient 440s or 550s ?

2. do i need to change any of the ignition system for these heads or can i use standard single coil packs?

3. do i need to change maf or would the green label maf be ok ?

4. anyone know of anything else that would need doing for me to make this work?

i already know the inlet needs to be modified so have that sorted just everything else really?

mods that are going with the engine are:

tdo5 18g
pace front mount intercooler
k&n induction kit
ninja exhaust system no cats turbo back
255 fuel pump
apexi power fc
and obviously a map

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks james

Your best bet is to fit the v.5 heads' ancilliaries (as the v.1 inlet manifold need to be modded, as you say, to fit the v.5 heads bolt holes, etc.). Not sure if your v.5 heads will accept your exiting coilpack on plugs set-up though (I doubt it). This would mean you'd need the v.5's own coilpack on the IM and HT leads set-up. But then you'll have to make the coilpack work with the v.1's ECU loom etc. I havn't a clue if this is possible etc.

TBH, Id sell the v.5 heads, and get STi v.3/4 ones. All your existing v.1 ancillaries will swap over, etc. Then you can also use a v.3/4 orange label MAF (or Z32 one) and a v.3/4 intake pipe too. You'd also really need the Apexi 3-bar MAP sensor too.

You'd need 550cc injectors and a Fuelab FPR (to control them reliably). Expect to make 350-380 or so on the 18g...

- 440s max out at 340 max pretty much (they go static at 87% - not good). So defo 550s needed.

- I assume you mean you want to keep your v.1 green label MAF? If so, then it COULD limit power of the 18g. Should flow up to 350bhp but your 18g is capable of 350-380 odd. However, I've witnessed, with my own eyes lol, a green label make 378bhp on Zen's (conservative) rollers!! So you take your chances with it....

- The problem with your exisiting v.1 1.2bar MAP (assuming you'll still be using your exisitng v.1 BCS asssembly?) is that you can only run 1.15bar boost target. The 18g will demand between c.1.3-1.5bar to to realise its power potential. So you need a different MAP and the bespoke Apexi one work perfectly (obviously) with the PFC. A replacement v.3/4 or v.5/6 MAP doesn't work well with the v.1/2 PFC, unfortunately...

Get the Z32 - it's the same diameter as the green one and physically fits straight in existing pipework. Ensure it come with its connector with decent lengths of pigtail wires. Mapper will wire it in for you on day of mapping, etc.
