Default Turbo Timer

I havent long had my bug-eye wrx but im already getting bored of waiting for the turbo to drain or whatever it does for a while before turning my engine off.

First of all - how long should i leave it for usually and why.

Second - If i get a turbo timer, would it cause issues with security? Ive got what i THINK is the standard subrau allarm immobiliser with the blue fob. Is it likely to lock and immobilise with the engine running?

Thanks

just run off boost for a couple miles before you get home or where ever instead of sitting on your drive for a couple minutes!
the idea is it gives the turbo time so slow down and cool down a bit, instead of being driven hard and getting red hot then just being turned off!

i have a turbo timer on mine but never use it,was fitted when i bought the car!if you set it and leave it running you can only lock car using the key not the alarmfob if that makes sense? so basicaly its locked but alarm aint set!

As above - If i go out for a drive i have a route home that gives me around 2 miles of no braking and steady driving to allow everything to cool down. When i get home i park up normally and just turn off and get out. I have never, ever, gone out and thrashed it and then parked up and immediately turned it off.

Even if you don't drive off boost for a mile or so, is it really that boring having to wait just a couple of minutes for the turbo housing to cool down?!

Surely you can listen to some music, pick your nose, get a quick tug from the gf, or whatever?

good idea joz except for having to sit in the carpark at work waiting, when im usually late anyway.

Might try plan B and let things cool on the last few miles.

its hks and cuts out if you release the handbrake so cant be stolen while running!

always seem to be late. always have been. I work in a callcentre too so they know exactly when you start too!

i like the sound of that HKS one. I expect it would clip straight in too if i chose the right one.

yeah with harness it was about £90 all in took about 10mins to fit although the handbrake part is a touch fiddly not sure about others but my car locks and arms itself after so long in anycase although it is easy to sit in the front room and lock it when it stops running.....not like you cant hear it!
