Default looking for a new ecu

hey folks... i'm thinking of upgrading my ecu on my p reg v3 sti.. i probably don't have as much cash as i would like/need to, hence why i'm after some advice on here

preferably i would like an ecu that can have different boost settings.. one for where i wanna go a bit mental and the other for when im jus driving about normally...

launch control would be nice aswell and if theres a way i can pop a big bang once in a while without antilag i would like to know about it

cheeers, steve

Simtek or Solaris but both will cost £1000+

apexi power fc if your on a lower budget no anti lag or launch control though.

if you want a few pops and bangs you could just ask the mapper for some over run.

my standard ecu has been mapped by jollygreenmonster already but when it was with the previous owner... is the over run potentially a little dangerous to damaging the engine or it just gonna hurt my fuel consumption?

no idea mate lol... all i know is its putting out 326bhp on surrey rr dynos abd all its had done is fmic and the jgm map. when i took my car into local subaru specialist for a quick winter lookover he couldn't tell me what ecu it was either and he can normally tell just from hearing them when the engine running!

Perhaps it would be wise to actually have a look at what ecu you have already as i'm guessing you don't have a standard one
It's under the carpet then a kickplate in the passenger footwell

Bound to have Simtek, or something else, in it (I think Simtek is a board that gets added to the OEM casing???)

If your inquisitiveness is getting the better of you, why not?! lol

You just need to remove the 'lid' to see (not worth unplugging, as you could disturb a pin-out unnecessarily - and that would really pee you off!)...

You should see the serial number somewhere beginning, I think, "E1S96..." (if it's a Simtek).

Yes to the ALS and LC query if it has a simtek then it will have a hole already drilled in it so a laptop can be plugged into it.
