Well dont go for a big one, i think the right size is 43mm, as if you go bigger, you'll lose spool, why not get your headers and up pipe ported?

you are right about the after market flexi joint ones they are crap and to large a bore for your standard applications, you could do it cheap and either get a good used classic or sti up-pipe, but they will have no hole for the EGT sensor so will show a CEL this can be turned off or use a resister, the other dearer alternative is a Harvey smith up-pipe.

Depends what turbo you're going to get. If you're going to get a hybridised TD04, either get an OE classic one and port it, or have a word with Harvey. He has a nice small diameter one that won't b^gg^r the spool. Most aftermarket replacements are too big.

And speaking of b^gg^ry, you can keep your love and shove it up your &rs*, or something.
