Default TD05 on a UK 99 (W)?

Hi lads, probably a question asked a million times (sorry)
only ever had imports!!
Now I have a UK Turbo MY2000 (W) saloon. Im presuming a TD04 Turbo as standard?

Can I fit a TD05 on as a straight replacement ?
and then will I need to pay for a remap aswell?
OR! Can it be fitted without a remap?

Also will an import TD05 go on it if above is ok !!

Cheers Guys in advance.

TD04 is the standard turbo.

TD05-16g can be fitted if you have the compressor cover modded to Front Entry.

For optimal results, and safety it would be advisable to have a remap.

If you have a wideband and a set of det cans, and the car is fitted with an AE802 ECU then you can run approx 14psi (with the help of an aftermarket boost controller) before any det is heard.

If the car has an AE800/AE801 then you will need to have a remap.

The TD05 obviously isn't just a plug 'n' play solution with your standard ecu, and you will need to know what you are doing to get it running reasonably well without destroying the engine in the process.

Remap Recommended

you'd be okay if you stayed off boost until mapped

You will need a remap if you fit a VF or a larger TD series turbo.

Michaelm, not sure who you took your advise from but but good luck!

I was just saying that VF turbos bolt straight on with no need to mod the turbo. and yes I know all about "remap" for my car thanks. You can only use Power FC's on 97 98 99 and 2000 imprezas.

Ahh i see. Sorry I read your post wrong.

Apexi Power FC's were available for all the calssic models.

However what I think your getting at is the 97/98 ecu is not remappable and hence why you have to fit an aftermarket ecu.

The 99/00 can be remapped using ecutek.
