i have a 1998 impreza 2.0gl, the check engine light is on, i was told the ej20 engine in it is obd2 compliant, but code readers keep saying link error, can anybody tell me if it is obd2 compliant. althought it has the 16 pin adaptor i am unsure thanks????

 

Does it have the test plugs under the dash?
Green and black connectors.
Search the forums there are loads on this procedure.
Your car has a 16 pin but only the Subaru diagnostic will comunicate with it.

 

the garage said it was link error, they maybe not using a subaru 1 then. if it is a subaru only...i look into it myself thanks 4 the info!!

 

Do a search on Reading ecu codes in this forum, it'll tell you how to do it using the test connectors - no need for diagnostic reader. It's easy all the codes and procedure are here. Plus if your stuck post up the code and someone will help you out.
