Default BATTERY LIGHT ON

Hello all, My battery light is constantly on and its doing my head in. Took it to the garage today and they checked everything and all was fine. He said its probably a break in the wire somewhere. Getting the wire replaced at the end of next week but im sick of looking at it. Is there any way i can get the light to turn off until its fixed next week i.e chopping a wire or pulling a fuse. Thanks

A break in the wire is doubtful as this wire provides the ind feed for the alternator> it could be touching to earth somewhere which will bring the light on. Although if it was its unlikely the alternator would charge

Very unusual for the light to be on due to a wiring problem. Normally would indicate that the alternator isnt charging>
Has any work been done on the car wiring wise recently?

As for just replacing the wire thats more difficult than it sounds as its part of the main loom from the dashboard.

No mate no wiring work done at all. I've owned the car for about 5 months now and the light has always been on. If there was a problem with the alternator surely the battery would have died by now wouldn't it ?

yep your correct battery would have died very quickly if it wasnt charging.

although i guess could have a regulator problem and be over charging but id expect that to kill the battery fairy quickly too
