Default Ignition lights stay on when engine running - help!

Hey all

Was out for a short drive this evening and all going nicely when all of a sudden (foot down a bit accelerating in 4th) all the ignition lights (except CEL and Oil) came on and stayed on.

The car still ran fine and got home no problem but when I restarted it the same lights all stayed on again.

I have to use the car early tomorrow to take my mrs to the hospital as my disco has a broken headlight so I can't use that. I'm a bit nervous about what's caused this to happen though, as I don't want anything to go wrong when I'm out with her.

I did wonder for a moment if it was the simtek simply giving me a knock warning or something like that, but I don't think it can have been as I think that just flashes the one light and then goes off again. Certain it wouldn't remain after re-starting anyway.

Anyone else ever experienced this? It's peeing down outside but I need to go out and work on the car to avoid an issue in the morning then it's tough I guess.

Voltage (VBAT) in the simtek dash software says just over 12.2v with ignition on and engine off, and climbed to about 14.9 when running.

Many thanks
Jim

Sorted!

Somehow the plug on the alternator was loose! Went to check the terminals to see what they were like and found the plug was not pushed fully home.

Cleaned it up a little and secured it and now it gives a nice 14.54v at 2500rpm which I believe it fine. No ignition lights on either.

Cheers for the help anyway chaps.

Will have to replace it at some point anyway as it squeaks so am assming the bearing is on its way out.

Is that all on the same engine?
