Just wondered what it was caused by cos i hear it every now and again but i've forgotten what it is.

Thank god - I thought mine was the only one !!
When you start up mine sometimes sounds like an owl or milk bottle.
Never does it when you get someone to listen.
Any answers ??

Well I never you may have solved my problem, is this noise only on acceleration ?? I have had this funny noise for a few months now, and couldn't work out what it was.

Sideways decribed it like someone blowing over the top of a milk bottle....

This is the sound I got after fitting a dump-valve.. Does it sound something like this? I don't know where the sound comes from..

Yep, that sounds like the commonly described BOV leaking. Should only do it on acceleration, more common on 97/98MY cars though.

But my car gives this sound when letting of the pedal.. NOT when accelerating.. Strange?

 

And my 98 does it only on start up.
Is it the BOV ???
