On my S202 which has a 3" exhaust with sports cat, TSL Green air filter and a remap by Bob Rawle it is putting out 348bhp/338 lbs ft torque.
There is a bit more to go with ported manifolds & up pipe, uprated fuel pump and a further remap should see it up to around 370bhp I hope.

I had 364bhp out of my P1 with this turbo, but boost was very high though (1.9 bar )
with aps fr mount intercooler, aps cak, 550 injectors, walbro fuel pump,gruppe-S headers and Blitz Nur-spec exhaust and Motec ecu management
that probaly the one of the highest figure you will see for the vf34 on a 2.0 boxer engine without race fuel.
oh Cannon ...not seen one with 370 bhp yet in all my time on scoobynet , bit wishful thinking me think

A p1 with standard engine, decat and an original TMIC will probably only see about 330hp on a VF34, if you add an FMIC you should be looking at arounf the 345hp mark maybe a tad more. A lot will be affected by how much boost it holds at high RPM, as some downpipes (like HKS) will limit the wastegate flow and sometimes cause mile boost creep and result in say 1.4 bar at 7000rpm instead of a more usualy 1.1 bar. So peak power would rise and you might see 365-370hp with the turbo running at 110%, peak torque would be no higher so the car wouldn't feel very different to one running 330hp with plenty of midrange torque, unless you rev it well through the gears.
Is this a case of "I want XXXhp and want to know if a VF34 will do it for me?"

Well it made 348bhp on 1.5 bar max boost, my S202 is a little different to a 'standard' Impreza. The S202 is 320bhp out of the factory.

I was referring to the forged internals, cdb, engine oil cooler etc.

you have fun trying to get through id drop him an email or try CR turbos or turbo dynamics and even a 18g on standard internal is quite a bit of abuse for a ten year old engine unless its been rebuilt with some nice pistons, rods and bearings you be better aiming for the 330bhp mark with a real quick spoiling turbo one of the vf turbos or a td05 16g

I've been in talks with him via email - and will invariably get this turbo too.
It sounds like the PERFECT turbo for your brief.
Get's better... If you know your exisitng turbo is not cracked anywhere/totally worn out, then if you pay him £550+VAT + a £250(no VAT) surcharge, then when you send him your old turbo and as long as he passes it fit for recirculation, you get your £250 back!
So a pukka, brand new AF 18g for 'only' £646.

Anyone able to say whether it's really worth having the 20g over the 18g?
API Dave said the 20g has trouble with surge when running it on a FMIC and still uing a MAF. He said that the 18g copes better in this case.
Is the 20g's 20-odd bhp gain over the 18g actually worth it? Is it that much more noticable as the revs rise/hits max boost? Or would it be best to opt for the 18g's more livelier, quicker-spooling nature for the road and everyday driving scenarios (whilst sacrificing the slightly better top-end of the 20g)?
Is the 18g that much more of a biddable turbo, compared to the 20g? Or bugger all in it at the end of the day?
