is it common to have surface rust and a small whole in front subrame on a newage my 02 sti? i had it on ramp and noticed some surface rust and i poked a bit, that turned into a whole about 1 and a half inch wide so not bad really,just wondered if its common or not? also is it hard to remove so i can get it powdercoated or resealed with waxoil ?

 

Must admit my 2002 sti had rusted , only on drivers side subframe/ chassis leg where the anti roll bar bolts on , cleaned area all up ( was quite alot of surface rust could scrape off with screwdriver , as you said poked with screwdriver but no hole ) used wire brush fitting in a drill , then rust treated and then painted all in black hamorite , only spotted it last month on mot . Checked passenger side still looks like new cleaned and just gave it a paint of hamorite , its as if this one area / side had been not treated as rest of under car is fine , if left would have rotted for sure .

yeh its the drivers side mate and its right where the plastic **** gaurd clips to it,will cut out and weld it up but as you said the rest of car is mint.

 

yea mine was where the plastic guard clips on , weird one can't see any difference to rest of car .
