As I sit here with a can of Carling, I am mulling over a bit of a dilemma. I need to go down to Plymouth, 160 miles, tomorrow and I have noticed a very slight clutch slip. It only happens when foot flat to the floor in fourth and fifth when the car goes over 3k revs, and is as I say, very slight, only noticeable to the driver. Like a very slight pulsing of acceleration.
I have to go, so if I drive it off boost all the way, inside lane, and granny it down and back, do I have a flies chance in hell of getting down and back unscathed?
PS I have another clutch coming, that will be fitted soon after Xmas, so all is not lost!

Mine ran for a couple of months, but steadily got worse, as you say peak torque in the higher gears is where the first symptoms show up.
Then it will gradually start in third, by the time it's doing it in second you'll be fitting a new clutch and flywheel.....
IMHO

Well, IF I drive it down tomorrow, it will be in fifth at 70mph, no overtaking, grannying it all the way. It will rest up in Plymouth, not being driven until just after the weekend when it will be driven in the same manner again. Then, it will be treated to a new clutch, Merry Xmas, car!
