why did you not get the work done by someone who knows what they are doing? it amazes me that people take on this work changing this and that without knowing how an engine works mechanically. to save a few pounds labour cost they take on work like exhausts, intercoolers, bovs, turbos etc etc and have no notion of how to fix something when it all goes **** up. good subaru mechanics are NOT that expensive and can save you a load of money in the long run.

that really helped him!!

check all the intercooler pipe connections for gaps that would cause an air leak as any air getting in to the system after the air flow meter behind the air filter will cause it to cut out or idle very poorly, also check all elec connections that you may have undone even temporarilly to fit pipes in the engine bay and any hoses you may have moved out of the way. make sure the multiplug is connected to the maf (mass air flow) sensor thats the one your air filter goes too. just general things like that mate really

Stevros, have to sort of agree with bigsinky here, not much information from the OP, has he already checked all the pipework? and its mainly common sense to check all the pipework again and again if its not working right, or revert back to the original top mount to see if you have broken something.
Spending an extra 100 quid getting someone else to do it right saves you hours of time that you could be doing something productive with (and you can look over the pipework for the next time ) and no one has yet told the OP that he/she will need a remap, something else for them to comprehend.....

you need to use a hosting site such as photobucket. Upload photos from your pc to there first then copy and paste the img code it generates into your post.

Fitting a fmic is well within the scope of the competant diy'er its good that some people will give it a try, maybe take a little longer than a pro but at least they are gaining the experiance and becoming more familiar with their car

Have you tried doing an ECU re-set? (disconnect the battery for atleast 20-30 mins). I'm alittle un-sure on your year but maybe you could check for error codes using the plugs under the dash.

Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Knowledge / Reading ECU Fault Codes

And some other links that may help you out.....if not today then maybe another day

Just a thought.

Nothing wrong with trying it yourself IMO but just have a back up plan ready when/if it all goes wrong. Hope thats alittle help, Gareth

I'd check then to see if it is throwing up any error codes on the ECU if you can. It's really easy to check as one of my links above explains how to do it and read the code after.
I know I'm just putting random ideas outhere but anythings worth a try I'm sure you'll agree. Did it idle ruff, then die? or run smooth but then die? maybe try cleaning the idle control valve just incase (if it idled ruff).

http://store.ncrally.com/catalog/images/22650AA034.JPG

You will only need to unplug it (and the battery) unscrew the two phillips head screws (note the position of the valve) then remove, clean with brake cleaner and a scourer (inside & the metal rod that sticks up). Allow to dry and put it back on.
Going out now but goodluck.

Correct me if im wrong here, but this does sound a lot like a MAF problem (i take it when you start the car, it runs for a couple of seconds splutters and stalls?)

Know anyone else with an impreza that you could just borrow the MAF sensor from?

I take it you did remove the air filter when fitting this front mount?

check the maf sensor is the right way round there should be a arrow on the body of it showing the direction the air should flow through it, it does sound like an air leak was the small breather on that pipe near the air filter before you fitted the fmic? if not where did it go to? maybe it should now be blocked off unless its a breather? is the intercooler itself new? if not could that be leaking? when you rev it can you hear any hissing noise from under the bonnet can you get someone to keep it running while you listen around under the bonnet?has it ever run properly since the fmic was fitted or has this been how it is since the first time you tried to start it?

the maf sensor id the right way round just took it off and cleaned it waiting for it to dry ive double hose clipped every connection around the front intercooler, and i dont know anyone else with a scooby.but the tmic was working fine then i jus got this on in the pics took me 9 hours to fit, i took of most of the ac stuff but not all of it. the only diffrence is i put a breather air filter on the hose that used to connect to the turbo hoseing, and maf hoseing in pic 2

the pipe that you put that red breather on that comes from the underside of the inlet manifold and went into the turbo inlet pipe (between maf and turbo) needs to go back in to it as mine popped out a few times and car just died straight away pretty sure its that also put all breathers back where they came from untill you get a catch can tank doing this should hopefully sort it

let me no

Sounds like the oil breather- it needs to be connected to the intake or your car will die as it is- I tried venting mine and it did the same- would say thats your issue.

Bit off topic, but had an MR2 turbo I raced for a couple of years- the MR2 forum was always very helpful when people had car issues- I hope this is the same (has been for me up to now)
