The 2.5 litre sti needs the down pipe cat in to pass an mot, you can take out the 2nd cat (under body) and pass the mot as this is what Prodrive do but it is highly recommended to have a remap if you do this.

does the prodrive kit take out the 2nd cat??
says just exhaust silencers on spec sheet??
or is this the decat
- Recalibrated engine management system
- High capacity fuel pump
- Stainless steel sports exhaust silencers
-earlier cars it does remove the 2nd cat with a decat

so would i just be better with a rear box?
cheers

RIDDZZ not to sure what your trying to achieve sound or performance or both ?
With the 06 and I think the 07 sti Prodrive kits you only get 2nd cat bypass,Re calibrated engine management system and back box.
Although you can take out the 2nd cat and still pass the mot I don't think its wise for long time reliability with out a remap.
If its just a good exhaust note your after a simple after market back box is your answer and if your after real loud you can take out the centre resonated section with no issues.

had a remap with cats in place.304 bhp at mo
want more power but want to keep my insurance and be able to mot it.
it does not say on prodrive site about taking the 2nd cat out on the 06-07?
and as ive had a remap done quite easy to have it checked over again
cheers

Remove 2nd cat and replace down pipe with a good sports cat will still pass mot and should achieve 320-360 bhp
