Default Engine rebuild question

Hi to all.My question is are all classic wrx/sti camshaft pulleys the same, for example would a 93 be the same as a 98?Also with upgraded internals would a 11mm oil pump be better than the 10mm or is the standard 10mm sufficient? Thanks

No.

The 11mm pump flows 10% more oil than the 10mm one, but too much oil pressure is not necessarily a good thing. Whether you'd be better off with one depends to a large extent on the amount of power your finished engine is expected to produce. Have a word with RCMS and see what they recommend for your build.

I'm far from the best person to ask re. the very early cars, however to the best of my current understanding, the very early pulleys on the STis were all metal, with the later cars going to the three resin/one metal combination. However, there are different part numbers across the different MY's and while I suspect you could get away with a mix, I wouldn't swear by that.

If you give us a bit more of an idea what you're trying to do (put together an engine with a mix of parts on it by sound of things) it'll be easier for those who know to give you specific advice.

Have version 4 sti heads and been given two plastic ex camshaft pulleys but unsure whether they will be ok as no idea just what year classic they are off, nothing to compare. This is being built from scratch as a second forged rear thrust EJ20 engine
