Question Uprated fuel pump

Would fitting an uprated fuel pump alone give an increase in bhp? Car is MY06 STi.

I would think that the OEM pump is sufficient, so an upgrade would allow power increases to be realised from other changes, but in itself not have any effect?

As I understand an uprated pump will not give you more power out of the box however when you start turning the wick up on the turbo, fit bigger injectors, remap etc you will need the extra capacity that an uprated pump can supply. If you leave the standard pump in there when you start mapping there is a serious risk of running lean and melting something!!

More of a safety thing. The std pump is fine for the moment but when you start adding decats/remaps it will provide an element of safety.

MY06 Sti is a great base car to tune....

Will you be modifying the car? if so what type of power levels do you have in mind? The OEM is more than capable to supply fuel for around 400BHP. (if anybody knows different please say)

As said above by swapping out the pump there will be no gains...but there will be additional factors of safety added once you begin to thrive for more power.

yes standard pump flows very well.. and not that old. . come a couple more years time and it would be a deffo worth while exercise just in case but in a 3year old car the pump should be fine and flow plenty enough.
