crunching into 3rd
hi everone looking for some advice. just had the clutch replaced in my bugeye and now its started crunching into 3rd and i have alot of clutch judder as i pull off in first can any one shine a light please. im thinking miss alighned clutch, contaminated clutch plate or hair line cracks in the fly wheel any one else got any ideas.

Did you have your flywheel skimmed or replaced with a new one before replacing the clutch. If not that might be part of your problem. Highly recommended on Subaru's. General crunching in 3rd just means that either that gear or synchromesh is on the way out. Common problem with bugeye boxes, My 3rd gear went with a bang a little while back so i replaced the box and driveshafts from an MY05 model and job done.

thanks for that mate didn`t get anything done to the fly wheel clutch was done by the small garage i got the car from so they changed the clutch plate, pressure plate and release barring but nothing to do with the fly wheel.

I have a hawkeye which is currently at the Subaru dealership with the gear box in bits, as i was having a cruch every so often in 4th. Turns out the 4th gear was on its last legs they are also going to replace 3rd as that has seen better days.. hope that helps ya.
