Ported headers
You can fit ported headers and matched uppipe and if that is your only major mod there will be no problem but to get maximum benefit obviously a remap is needed to get optimum gains.
Normally the route for most Subaru turbos is a full decat exhaust system, ported headers and matched uppipe then save up the pennies either for a remap or an FMIC and remap. If you are going to fit an FMIC anyway at some point it is as well to do it immediately in advance of the remap so you only have one remap charge.
