Do i need my ecu map when i fit ported headers and up pipe?

I was under the impression that you don't have to, but if you want the real benefit on the headers and up pipe then you do!

Depends on how big the internal diameter of the uppipe is, i have ported headers and an uppipe from harvey and its fine without a remap.

 

You can fit ported headers and matched uppipe and if that is your only major mod there will be no problem but to get maximum benefit obviously a remap is needed to get optimum gains.
Normally the route for most Subaru turbos is a full decat exhaust system, ported headers and matched uppipe then save up the pennies either for a remap or an FMIC and remap. If you are going to fit an FMIC anyway at some point it is as well to do it immediately in advance of the remap so you only have one remap charge.
