Default whats the diference between V8 and V3 bottom end

As above, I have a V3 STi ra with the bottom end gone and me replacing it with a V8 bottom end. I have noticed it has an extra breather on it but other then that it looks the same??
Thanks

Yes it has an extra crankcase breather that can be blocked, it will fit your RA but may need different thickness headgaskets, ask you builder...or if you are doing it yourself ask your gaskets supplier!!

Mark at Lateral can advise and supply what you need.

Your comparing a phase 1.5 engine to a new age sti engine? its a new ball game, they improved a few things, especially on the JDM models (as there is no such thing as a version 8 car so we just go by model/year as its less confusing due to several mechanical differences between cars, ie uk sti and jdm sti on an my03 have totally different engines).

New age STI's have stronger engines than classics, easy as

Ok well I believe it came out of a my03 STi but do not know if it is uk or JDM. Either way it is a better lump and straight drop in for me though once all bits like heads, headers, inlet, flywheel bla bla bla transferred over yea?

The engines between a JDM and UK car are totally different in that year, the JDM is a twin scroll unit, it will not fit your car unless you have an exhaust that can go around the different sump these cars have (they are twin scroll) so you will need to change your entire exhaust (downpipe etc) to fit, if its a UK car or early MY01/02 lump then it will fit.

The JDM STI 01/02 engine is the same as the uk STI 02/03/04/05 engine barring the turbo, the twin scroll unit is 80% different (and vastly improved) over the older unit
