how do i tell for sure when going to buy some?

you need to check they are solid shimmed and not hydraulic..

sti2 will have ribs on rocker covers, sti3 are smooth rocker covers..

where it says 4 cam 1 valve? can i check without removing cams?

yes.. 16valve

no... but then assuming heads are off the bolts should all be loose?
