Default what difference between uk and import?

what are the differences between a uk car and an import that runs 280 bhp???
is it just ecu as have done all full exhaust inc headers and induction and ecu next step so if i can fit an import ecu then that will be ideal until i get a simtek set-up fitted.

differences depend on age of car. Do you mean a UK turbo or UK wrx or UK sti? what year/version are you talking?

Technically a "UK" car is also an import - albeit a Euro import

The differences will depend on the car, but its unlikely to only be ECU related regardless

I'm guessing you mean that your car is a UK spec turbo 2000, then you probably have an ECU that can be mapped without being changed, which would save you a few quid. Probably not worth the hassle of fitting an ECU from an import, as the wiring is different and it may not work at all.
As above if you let us know model / year of yours and I'm sure we can confirm...

You can't have your ECU remapped, at the moment at least, unfortunately, Scooby546 was presumably thinking you had a 93-96, or a 99/00. You can't simply swap a Japanese market one in either, as it won't be compatible with your wiring loom, or engine/turbo.

Ok, if its a 97 uk turbo then it will probably need a replacement ECU, as far as I know only the 99 onwards ones could be re-mapped (EcuTeK remap)
So you will probably need a SimTek, or maybe 2nd hand Apexi Power FC etc.
Have a look on this site for some ideas
