Default cdb

hi, just pulled a 2.0ltr out of my car tonight as i am fitting a 2.5 and i have not had the car long, anyway to cut a long story short it turned out to be a cdb and on further strip down it appeared to have been built recently, it has cosworth pistons and crower H type rods,i am keeping the heads, the engine has not done no more than 1000 miles from rebuild im (GESSING) cant tell for sure the miles it's done but the car only has 50k.
short block for sale soon!!!

Hi, just a quick one after reading mijeeta's post, pistons are stamped cosworth, i bought this car and was told by the boy i bought it from that the engine had been rebuilt by previous owner, the boy i bought the car from did very little with the car, the engine was built to rally spec with lots more high spec goodies.
I pulled the engine from car and removed the sump out of interest and saw the rods so then removed a head and piston so see what like the bore condition, you can still see the honeing in the bores, (hence Guess miles) i do not have a bore mic so i will borrow one and check before i sell the unit,

Here are the pics as above.

Help with price?, what do you think this is worth.

Make an offer guys! something towards new engine build, Minjeeta asked why take 2.0 out and replace with 2.5? simple! we run a 34mm restricter and with the 2.5 we will make TORQUE.

Yes they all have oil squirters. The only way you will find out if it has been stroked is by mic'ing the crank....if it's stroked then it will have 79mm crank rather than the 75mm phase 1.

Good Luck mate, if you need any more info just PM.

I made a good friend out of this deal thats for sure....and i think we have both saved each other a few pounds hehe.....And indeed not many people would send an engine of this caliber based on trust...Thanks DC

Engines stripped sitting on my worktop as i type.....Mint CDB possibly 2k miles..Cosworth phase 1 pistons 92.5mm, Lateral/Crower STD length rods, ACL duraglide bearings in mint condition and a phase 1 crank in mint condition now.....Whole package will be more than capable of 500+ if needed, Turbo dependent.

Thanks for the kind words Mus, hows that motor of yours running?

That is so true i used to think it was just turbo and engine but things like labour and lots of vat gets added as well as bits and pieces can all easily add up to a ridiculous amount. by the end of your build you would of spend nearly twice as much as planned

if however you know your way around your car and have sufficient space like a nice garage and an understanding mrs you can save a bit of money by doing all the basic work or even just go the full hog and do the whole build yourself like some members on the forum, im useless I couldn’t even change a spark plugs as I don’t have the know how or the sufficient space so my build has cost just around the 20k mark all in.
