Angry Pot hole has split my tyre can I sue ?

Hit a pot hole yesterday on our wonderfully public roads hidden by leaves andmuck just wondered if anyones ever had a positive response from there local friendly council with regards to compensation? Incidently it's ripped the tyre wall , rendering the near new tyre useless not sure if it damaged alloy will find out wheni get new tyre fitted today !

I think it depends if anyone else has reported the hole as damaging their vehicle. Report it anyway, it could cause a lot worse damage than a dead tyre.

Yes you certainly can. Very common for vehicle owners to claim compensation from local council offices for this, there's a standard process. Helps if you take a photo of the pot hole, the damage to the car and of the area of the road where it occured (take pictures of both directions and include signage if it's available). Some councils will want this, others don't care.

Local councils have a legal responsibility to maintain the public highways within their boundries. Consequently they're culpable for any damage caused by, "failure to discharge their responsibilies".

Your alloy looks knackered to me mate, might be some damage to the shocks too

Whiplash, it were that deep. Mental issues with flashbacks to the fateful day. The damage to the environment due to having to trash a new tyre before its ready.

Dont forget testicular damage as your ******* was ripped off by the gearstick, and the mental scars this will cause in the future.

(I know a guy who actually ripped his ******** on the gearstick as he travelled from the back seats through the windscreen. Lived to tell the tale, but it was hairy for a while.....no not his ********(!))
