Hmmm, well its always best if possible to get the engine rebuilt, that way you know its good, putting a 2nd hand engine in is 1. a ticking time bomb 99% of the time, 2. a waste of money 99% of the time.
Of course if you have money to throw away then go for the 2nd hand engine, but you may find that the block is slighly different or needs some work as its a twin turbo engine and not a single turbo as the impreza is.

A 2nd hand block is a no no for me, just as tony says above it is more than likely about to fail. I.e. BIG or MAIN ends are more than likely coppered and ready to cost you an arm and a leg.

Nevertheless a Crankshaft for your engine here>>> https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...l-must-go.html for £70 that's got to be a better bet than forking out for another engine which could cost you twice as much in the end.

Good Luck

iirc api david said that a legacy engine will not last long with a impreza ecu. various reasons. a search might find the post.
