Default Hub changing.

I was removing the hubs from my Wagon and when I'd un done both the ball joints and everything else, I moved it out the way but when doing this it dropped and slipped out of the CV boot slightly, so I pulled it out completely as I didnt want to leave it hanging.

My shaft is left hanging with a splined end, I removed the CV boot and there is a splined bit there too, on like a rotating joint.

Is this normal? Or have I ****ed my hubs? Lol.

I'm not good at hubs, shafts, gearboxes, diffs etc.

Thanks

I think the shaft itself has come out of the CV joint.. is this bad?

When looking at the back of my hub, I see this http://www.4h.com.au/cv%20pic.gif

The bit with the bearings in it.

Is it just a case of putting the shaft back in this? Or have I caused myself more hassle?

:/

I've pulled the actual shaft out of the CV joint..

Here is a pic of the hub..

Like I said, I hadnt even got round to the gold bolt on the end, I'd done things backwards I guess, should of undone that before anything.

Is there anyway of me putting the shaft back in the CV joint?

Thanks

Yep, you should have undone the hub nut first. You may have trouble now as it is sodding tight.

The CV will be OK, pop the shaft back in and make sure it clicks into place, may need some persueding. Did you damage the rubber boot when it seperated? If not then a large tiewrap will re-secure it. Make sure you pull it tight tho.

Have a look here

for how the job should be done. By the way, if you are replacng bearings you will need a press.

One last thing, did you mark the position of the hub retaining bolts on the shocker? If not you will need to get the suspension geometry realigned when all back together. Not cheap.

Before you take anything else apart I would take a look here https://www.scoobynet.com/technical-...ew-updated.htm land download the manual relevent to your car (courtesy of Slipstream_uk)
