I can't see the clutch being on it's way out after 600 miles of (as you say) steady driving.
You could try adjusting the clutch pedal so the bite point feels further down.

The clutch I believe takes time to bed in just like brake discs. It's worth readjusting the cable a couple of times afterwards.

That is a classic example of people giving answers with knowing what they are talking about LOL.

You can adjust the clutch pedal itself with a 12mm spanner but as Urban says it doesn't have a cable it is indeed hydraulic.

Adjusting the pedal should resolve your problem nicely.

I was also one told by more than one mechanic that the clutch pedal adjustment is only to take up the slack, but I don't know how true this is.

I researched this because of my own similar clutch issues - never got anywhere and just learned to live with it.

I had an issue which was exactly as the OP described. It was corrected by adjusting the clutch pedal. Worth a shot atleast.

Hello from a newbie
I have a clutch pedal problem on my recently purchased '93 WRX...
The bite point is roughly half way through the travel, however occasionally the pedal doesn't return fully and sticks about an inch or so from the top.
Would this be an adjustment issue? Or something more sinister??
It is really annoying, but the clutch doesn't appear to slip when the pedal sticks.
Any opinions or known cures?

Cheers, Nathan
