might be a dumb question but whats with the springs on the bolts which join the centre pipe and the down pipe on 93 wrx?

i cant see what purpose they serve? ive tightened the bolts fully tight and the springs are fully compressed meaning they are doing nothing now.

 

they add a bit of flex to the pipe to stop it from fracturing.

 

so have i dont them up too tight if i have fully compressed the spring? the springs are pretty weak
