Default headgasket. thermostat or air lock??

hi there just woundering if any1 can help..i own a 1994 subaru impreza wrx 2lt turbo. sat night i took it out got home an a lot of water came spillin out my overflow pipe, when i went bac to it nxt day the water tank was empty so i filled it bac up took it out seemed to be ok then i lost my heating so i brought it bac water still in tank but top pipe from rad seemed full of air when i undone lid lots of air came out and tank was empty again!! 2day ive taken it out again got my heating back but when i stopped again more water has came out the overflow pipe and now i lost my hot heating again...any ideas people many thanks )

yeah does sound like h/g been having similar prob myself, will know if it was next week as fitting new engine and will strip to be sure it was h/g once i get engine out.

Have you checked the Radiator cap isn't knackered?

Air in the top pipe may suggest no return ? OEM thermostats failed closed FWIW.

hi thanks i just foned midland subaru they said headgasket to...have been told it could be thermostat aswell what other symptons would i get with headgasket?? just dont want to take it there an be charged for a headgasket when its just thermostat....thanks

Seeing as your system is compromised anyway, why not remove the thermostat (mounted @ the bottom rad hose), place in boiling water, if it opens is aint the thermostat then you have to refill the system obviously, bit of a bugger but worth investigating.
