Default wont start after new clutch

hi yesterday i changed my clutch on my99 uk turbo.
I removed the engine but only forwards enough to do the clutch.
No wires were unpluged and it went back together fine.
When i came to start it the starter motor was ticking like it was stuck every time i turned the key, after a few turns it stops this and turns the engine over the wrong way then stops.
This has baffeled me.
Can anyone help or have any ideas
thanks

Is it where the starter engages on the Flywheel?

have you reconnected the earth mate. should be connected to the top nut of the starter
the other thing, is every thing alined mate. the presure bearing/fork ect. if not, they could be jamming it.
