Default help, brakes

need some info please

i have a version 1 sti, and the brakes are not good, and need replaced, is it a common upgrade to put the later sti 4 pots on?

do they fit?

whats the pcd of mine.

also iwant to put slightly larger 17 wheels on, is this a simple swap, even including the new brakes?

any help appreciated

thanks

The 4 pots aren't much better. The gold Brembo's off newage STI's are better and not a lot more expensive. But you may have problems getting them under 17" wheels (and some 18's) depending on the design of them.

If you do go the 4 pot route, then 17's aren't a problem, will bolt sraight on. I run 18's on a 1995 classic.

Hi Jef - welcome onboard

Your's will be 100PCD. Subaru 4 Pots will go straight on (with the matching bits) and fit under most 16"s or 17" (294mm disc size). Will be an improvement over your current setup. Brembos from newer STi will be better still (326mm disc), but are more wheel fussy.

Hello Jef, from another Jeff. Try High Performance Brakes - Supplying AP and Brembo brake kits for road and motorsport use

Ian does a kit to convert the Subaru 4-pot calipers to run bigger discs. TBH, unless you are doing trackdays, there's nowt in it between that setup and the later Brembos.........except the Subaru brakes fit under more wheels than the Brembos

The larger disc kit would cost more (+ calipers) than a Brembo setup.

I would go with the Brembo setup if wheels aren't an issue.
