Gonna be getting a VF29 Turbo fitted then ECUTEK Remap, what would be the best tmic upgrade or will my standard one be good for about 320 bhp

Std one will cope, but far from optimal!

No point in going to an upgraded TMIC on an MY99; get an FMIC and do it properly.

Who are you and what have you done with FMIC obsessive Just123?

Can't you just re-read all the previous threads you started on this topic, and/or use the search to find out what the myriad other people in the same situation have done? Continually asking narrow variations of the same questions is just a waste of everyone's time, not least your own.

Was all set for a fmic but was told it was a waste of time and money also would have to fit a induction kit and its a MY99 with the MAF issue

Best tmic upgrade would be a hyperflow - proven to work upto 450hp.

Whoever told you that is misinformed I'd argue.

Suggest you speak to Harvey on here to get info from an informed source.

Or the equally talented and knowledgeable, Bob Rawle (who doesn't sell FMICs). Who will probably suggest you get a FMIC as he did with me

Or David at APi, who will tell you to "do it properly" and get an FMIC, as he did with me

And Harvey, who sells, FMICs and advised me to get one even though he wasn't going to get my custom on that occasion!

Are moderators on here allowed to express opinions, whether or not they lead in the direction of authorised Scoobynet advertisers?

Oh yes, observe:

I'd advocate spending your cash at APi, give BOB5 a bell, see Bob Rawle about mapping and Harvey about FMICs

I'm a moderator, but I also have experiences of all the above; and I give the thumbs up to them all!

I'd also recommend some firms that aren't authorized advertises on here based on my experience of them!

Scott Lowe, Little knocks, Xtreme scoobies.

So the FMIC salemen advised you to buy a FMIC and the non-biased expert advised a TMIC?

I would always recommend taking the advice of a un-biased mapper who's job it is to deliver what you ask of them.

We're the largest official Hybird FMIC stockist, but we won't feed you any bull.

I note that with a newage tmic AndyF won the scoobysprint (or whatever its called) series.

Also a newage subaru with Chevron Motorsport TMIC got third in the club class at timeattack

LOL No, Bob (who doesn't sell FMICs) advised me to get one.

As usual, he was right!

David, who sells both, also said go for the FMIC.

OP, if you drive on-boost everywhere or track it etc, I'd defo get a FMIC (Hybrid GT Spec2 is the one of choice).

If, however, you tend not to hold high rpm for long periods e.g. general A- and B-road fast road driving - AND are disciplined enough to back off if you do find yourself holding high revs! - then a cheapish 2nd hand STi 8 TMIC will no doubt suffice.

That said, what with the faffing around to get the STi 8 to fit etc, then I'd simply slap on a FM and be done with it. At least then you'll know you are 'future proofed' for 'finite' bhp (should you want to later on with a bigger turbo/appropriate supporting mods, etc...)

Just to clarify, Bob (like David at APi) advocated that I get a FMIC, which I did!

The other Bob is saying you might wanna go TMIC!

Bob's your uncle!
