Default Magnex Exhuast System Replacment

Newbie post, just got another Scooby, a wrx 2.0L 2003 after a long break for the Mrs’s, as I drive an RS4 now, however we both missed having a Scooby !

It has a Magnex straight through system, this is a bit too much for the wife, so I plan to put it back to standard as I also need to get it through the MOT, I had everything but the cat, so I got one from an STI v8 of fleabay.

However I have noticed that the down pipe to turbo currently has a large chamber which is formed in to the downpipe that is the full size of the flange that bolts on to the turbo, on the sti pipe however the flange only has a 2 inch hole for the downpipe.

Now as I don’t have a standard one to compare it to, I just want to make sure that is not going to bu66er anything up and will be fine, any thoughts or comments or do I need a different downpipe/cat ?

Thanks in advance

It is to allow the gases from the wastgate to exit without upsetting the gas flow from the exhaust turbine.
