Default wiseco piston ring fitment, is this correct

fitted rings in pistons, instruction arnt the best, from my little image, is this correct,

thanks

oil tab ring is located top of engine in 1st hole in piston.

2nd oil gap is at last hole in piston, top side.

i also cant seem to find the piston offset, but all fwd marks r facing forward.

any1 got the correct piston ring gap when off piston but sitting in bore, so i can adjust all 8 compression rings

I would keep the oil ring expander gap away from the skirt area of the piston especially the bottom of the piston on a flat four engine.
IIRC, the holes for the tabbed oil ring on the wiseco's are in the bottom of the oil ring land and not in the top of the land
as on the OE Subaru piston - so adjust the positioning as necc.

Hope this helps,

Mick

Thats what wiseco instructions about oil ring, whic my diagram shows is how i set them up.

When assembling this oil rail type on a boxer engine (such as a
Subaru), the tabbed oil rail must be located at the top-side of the
engine. This is necessary to prevent oil seepage past the oil ring
and into the cylinder head. Failure to install the oil rails correctly
will cause improper function of the oil ring set.

and wiseco piston has 8 holes to fit tabbed ring into, 4 top, 4 bottom.
