Default Crank bearing???

I seem to have a knocking sound coming from the head, and appears when the engine is hot. Someone has already looked at it and we are pretty sure its the crank.

Would anyone be able to give me a quote for the job labour/parts.

Cheers.

Scot.

If you say that the knocking is coming from a head, then it most likely isn't the crank. Do you mean the heads(at either sides of the engine) or the block (in the middle)?.

There are any number of things this could be - including fairly simple stuff like a knackered timing belt tensioner. Impossible to give you an accurate quote for this sort of thing over the interwebs, not like anyone can x-ray your engine, nor can we actually hear or localise the noise.

Best bet is to get your car to a local Subaru dealer or specialist. If it is main bearings, you'll be well into four figures for the labour, and around £600 for crank and bearing shells.

I HAVE COME ACROSS EXACTLY SIMILAR NOISE FROM THE HEADS MORE OF A TAPPING NOISE THAN A KNOCKING SOUND . UNFORTUNATELY AS MUCH AS I HOPED IT WASNT THE DREADING BOTTOM END PROB IT WAS
