Unhappy

Got in my car this morning and started tootling along to work when I noticed that my handbrake warning light was on but my handbrake was actually off. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is?
Thanks very much.

I have had same problem.

It could be rear pads are worn, or, as in my case, brake fluid level was low, which was caused by small leak in pipe, got it fixed, light goes away.

would check the brake fluid level and see if it's ok. Also, make sure the weird white floating thing is floating properly (you'll see what I mean) as if it's stuck then this might cause the handbrake light to stay on.

Am thinking it could be the rear pads as when I reverse and brake there is a whining noise, quite loud.

Don't know if this will help, but had that problem with a GT4 I had, turned out to be the lid of the brake fluid reservior which had a float/switch built in. Replaced that and no more problems.

Not sure if the scooby's reservior is the same.

Its funny you should mention that cos I had a look at the brake fluid wiggled it about a bit and the light has gone off now.
A friend of mine had a GT4 has just written it off though, is gutted!!!
