Default shocking

ok. after having my car several months now, i have been in search of a knocking coming from the offside rear.

well it turns out after the 6 times i have stripped my suspension, fitted pads, now i have welded up my top mounts to find the knocking is still there!!!

!!!BUT!!!

its coming from inside the rear pillar!!! so now i have to cut the inside of my car to get to it. any one ever heard of this before. i know there is a strengthening bar in there and i feel it may have broke on a weld or something. its either this or filler foam in the rear quater!

whats your ideas?

if you have standard shoks on var it's very common for these to sieze . this will give you a knocking noise, just to look at the shocks they will look fine , but under load ( with vehicles wieght on them) they will be faulty. mine did the same on my06 wrx , i fitted coil overs

i have ohline coilovers. and everything seems fine with them. i have even welded the pillow ball purely because the washer inside had worn that bad and had play.

it definately feels like its coming from in the quarter

i just hope yours aint the same as mine. many ppl have an issue with it being the top mount its self or a weak spring. but mine has been different to everyone elses. this knock is not normal. and my clutch issue is not the normal fault.

(10p box of matches please sir!)

I had a knocking sound from the back of mine 06 WRX
turned to be boot lid
To test i put a load of paper towels each side of the rubber stopper to make lid tight knocking stoped
worth a try
