When the car's running does the gearbox sound like a blender with a lot of nuts & bolts thrown in to it?.....then it's broke.
If it's just stuck in neutral then maybe the linkage (selector) has become detached/broken possibly?
When my box went there was no mistaking that....was an aweful noise even when standing still. On another car I used to own the gear selector got damaged after I ran over someones spare wheel that fell off in front of me whilst I was driving one day. This resulted in me being only able to select a few gears but it was driveable. Just a suggestion, goodluck with it

Does it grind when you try and select a gear? (maybe a clutch issue) or just flat refuse?(like somethings stopping it?)
Maybe someone else could shed some more light on this but I'm thinking some sort of linkage (selector) has gone possibly. You'd know if you've stripped a gear because you should be able to hear all the little bits of metal (the teeth) flying around in the box.

If the stick is literally jammed solid, you've probably bent the ends of one or more of the selector rods, and shoved the shift arm down between them. Whatever the ultimate cause, the gearbox will almost certainly need to come out.
