Default Alternators

Just a query really........

When you strip down an impreza Alternator, how do you put it back together? As there are two spring loaded bushes, but how do you get them to 'stay down' while your reassembling it?

Also, will a classic Alternator fit in to a newage?

Thanks a lot
Chris

Chris,

There's a tiny hole in the back of the alternator....when disassembled, you need to push down the 'springy contacts' and slide something in the hole (I used 1mm tinned copper wire). This keeps the contacts down so you can re-insert the rotor. Once the rotor is back in place, just pull out the wire and the contacts pop up into place.

HTH.
