gear oil ????

Default gear oil ????

hi am lookin to change gearoil in my 1998 type r
there is a slight crunch goin into 5th at quick speeds
will oil change help cheers

Probably.. Yes

I would try the oil that Subaru recommendeds, Castrol Syntrax/Driveline 75w90 (3.5 ltrs) as it has an addative in it to help your baulk rings work correctly.

If this is not sucsessful then you would be looking at a gaerbox removal/strip to fit new parts.

cheers il give that a go first to see if it works
also think my dccd is playing up works fine when the split is to the back wheels but when you put it to all four on full lock it feels like the car wants to lock and jump ?? any one had a problem like this thanks for all your help

Your dccd is working fine mate.

As you roll the thumb wheel forwards it locks the diffs together & this makes it very difficult for the car to go round corners as all the wheels want to travel a differn't distance/speed and the cntr diff stops this happening making the wheels want to skip across the tarmac.

You should never run your car in this mode on tarmac otherwise it will "wind up" the transmission and break something expensive.... You should only ever lock the diffs if you are on snow or on a very slippery surface.

Syntrax works well, also for ther DCCD box the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90 75w-90 Gear oil
