South of 350bhp to be 'safe', I would have thought. Hopefully a load of people will post what bhp/lb ft they're running, and for how long...

Gearbox is vulnerable too at this sort of level.

I'm running a standard newage engine on a TD05 18G with mods (including methanol injection) at about 400BHP

Went reallly well at 325 BHP on a TD0516G but when I bought the 18G and had it re-mapped I broke 2 gearboxes in as many months........now on a Jap 6 speeder LOL

Yeah, if you do go for between 350-400, it'd be wise to take a deep breath and invest in the 6-speeder... or heaven's forbid, shell out big time for the PPG gearset!!!

Wow! I bet 400bhp on the 18g really is a tractable ride - sounds like an ideal roadcar. Loads of get up and go. It probably 'feels' like a TD04-equipped car with 'twice' the acceleration lol!!! Awesome.

Agree, i had 361/322 on a bug wrx but after 95k it gave up. My mate is running 405/360 and it is still running fine

as said, on borrowed time really but when it goes bang you can upgrade to a fully forged 2.5 lump whistle

joz

It depends what you want I've had lot of changes done to my bugeye since I bought it.....Turbos, maps, suspension LOL

As well as all the engine mods It's currently running a Roger Clark suspension set up by Matt and Olly including an adjustable EXE-TC kit and it still feels like it's going to kill me at times !!

Looking back I feel the TD05 16G with good Induction and exhaust and mapping fettled with help from Harvey / AFP / Mark Aigin / Bob Rawle and Eibachs / godspeed etc running 325 BHP /300 Torque worked really well

The 5 speed ratios suited the mods and I never felt that if I planted the throttle I would end up in a hedge !!

VF35/34 (and TD05H 16g) if totally puashed, mapped on V-Power at those sort of boost levels might get you to 350bhp but, it has to be said, it's a rareish event. But if you could be bothered to faff around with x% of meth or E85 added to the V-Power, then get mapped on it, I reckon 360+ could be for the taking, for sure.

Otherwise, the turbo of choice (for upto around 380 if pushed) would be what Midlife has: the TD05H 18g... or there's the Hawkeye STi's VF43! Talking of which, there's a low milage 2nd hand VF43 on ebay at the mo - check it out, you may get a bargain:-

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=vf43.

The 18g and VF43 should do 360bbhp all day long on V-Power.

BOB'5 and Andy F sell the 18g, amongst others...

i was looking at that vf43, but being my bugeyes only a 2litre, wouldnt the spool be bad since the 43 is mated to a 2.5? anyone know what u can run a vf35 at boost wise?
And what power do the sti pinks need replacing?

VF43 should be okay on the 2 litre too. It's not a 'massive' turbo, as such. I'm sure the 2.0's gas speed coming from its up-pipe is fine to be able to drive the VF43 'properly'. If worried about spool-up times, fit a harvey-supplied OEM ported/polished up-pipe as well - this should get you back in the region of 200-400rpm earlier spool, I think.

Pink 550cc injectors are good for between the 350-400 bracket (at normal 3bar pressure), so are the 'correct'/ideal cc for your 360bhp goal.
