will a impreza wrx sti type r engine fit in w reg turbo 2000 if not which sti engine will?

was going to get a engine from smr but been warned off

 

No complete STi engines are a straight "plug, play, drive" fit in a UK spec classic, you always need to take account of the altered cams, turbos and so-forth.

An STi5 or STi6 complete engine will physically fit straight in and connect to all the lines and looms in your car but you will need an immediate ECU remap in order to get it to run properly/safely.

If you want a straight plug and go swap, you will be looking at another 99/00 UK/Euro spec EJ205.

 

If you get a engine of smr be care full as i brought one for my old classic and i brought a sti engine i put it in about 2 months later it blow up when i took back out i looked round the back and it had been a legacy twin turbo with the second turbo oil feeds liquid metaled.so thats what they call a sti but they did change it and as i paid more for sti they gave me a td05 turbo and when i put it on my new impreza it smoked.so i would stay away if i was you

 

any sti motor would fit but you would have to do the rewiring of the electrical systems. even the sti v7-9 will fit
