How do you change the alternator belt on a uk classic?
#2
The alt is attached to a tensioner bolt. The belt may just be slipping due to lack of tention and may not be due to wear. Look on the inside of the belt. small splits in the rubber means that you need to replace it. £10-15 for a new one.
To change it, release the holding bolt found on the tentioner. You can then screw the tentioner bolt in which move the alternator down, thus reducing the belt tention. Slip the belt off. Put the new belt on and revere the process.

Easy. Loosen the alternator fixing bolts and then wind off the tensioner until you can remove the old belt. Fit the new one, adjust and tighten the alternator bolts back up. Check the tension again after you've driven it a bit.
