hi every one, im new here, and not too sure with a mod ive done to the car,i recently purchased a HKS induction kit for my impreza wrx 97 import facelift. sounds awsome but im geting worried by reading some of the threads on this site regarding the induction kit. will it cause a problem? does it effect the performance in anyway? basically i need to know if i be running to problems because of this in future?

The mostly cause problems on 98-00 cars running hotwire MAF's, but are known to be of little benefit in any car not running a FMIC and/or MAF-less set-up. Vibration and dirt ingress usually cause the MAF problems, but because they draw air from the engine bay which is generally hot and dirty, they can actually reduce power in some circumstances. It is generally known on here that the only intake mod worth doing whilst running under 350bhp is a simple panel. Even then, they won't up power (think +/- 2bhp), but they're relatively safe (except oily ones which also killed MAF's on 98-00 cars) and the real justification is that they last a lifetime. In truth, the OE paper item in the standard air-box is as good as anything.
